F.A.M. Fitness

Saturday's from 1:00pm-2:00pm

Our Family And Movement fitness (F.A.M. Fitness) program connects the community through consistent health and fitness clinics. We have yoga, HIIT, and sports specific events.

YBF strives to encourage youth from all communities but specifically those that are underserved, to build healthy lifestyles and habits in their everyday lives. We work with certified fitness trainers, yoga instructors, nutritionists and athletes to put on fitness clinics. Through our F.A.M. Fitness initiative, we aim to help our community members who may suffer from certain chronic illnesses to find ways to be active and help everyone learn to take good care of their physical health.

Mentoring Youth for a Bette Future

(Virtual or in person)

For ages 9-15, and high school and college-aged young people, ages 16-23, YBF pairs youth with local working professionals to provide each young person with a consistent role model. For 9 weeks, the mentors serve as a resource to youth, to help instill good values and long lasting good habits in school and in daily life.

The goal of this program is to expose our youth to a new world of possibilities for a better future through academic support, professional development, and career exploration. This program is sponsored by the nationwide AV and technology company, Meeting Tomorrow.(One-on-One virtual and in-person availability).

STEAM exploration

At YBF, our STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) after school initiatives on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4:00pm to 6:00pm, to foster creativity and professional development for youth. Led by our founder, Adem Aluka, we explore each S.T.E.A.M. subject through educational workshops such as coding, robotics, computer software, engineering, design, and animation. Through these programs, we aim to inspire youth to think about their futures and help them to explore potential career options.

Feeding the community

Through a partnership with Noble Charter Schools, YBF is on the front line of providing meals (30 breakfasts, 30 lunches, and 30 dinners) to those who need it the most. The ready-to-eat meals are available to the underserved Old Town community for pick-up, every Monday between 10am- 3pm.

Virtual Learning Support (ages 6-15)

In response to challenges created by COVID-19, YBF has opened up its learning center to assist local, underserved youth, ages 6-15, with virtual learning. Because students have been unable to attend class in person, we have created a socially distanced classroom setting to support up to 15 students with tutoring, supervision, and technological support every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 8:30am - 3:30pm. At YBF we encourage and motivate our students to stay focused and disciplined while fostering good habits and successful learning. We encourage and appreciate local professionals to volunteer with us.

Language & Culture

Through this program, we expose our youth to different cultures, cities, countries, and continents, this international initiative encourages youth to think outside of their own community. Students meet each week to express how they feel using Spanish words, collaborate to learn basic Spanish-speaking with the Spanish teachers, learn about traditions, culture, and food from Latin countries and receive resources to reinforce what they have learned.  We organize cultural exchanges through videos, virtual meetups, collaborative projects, and local community outings.
